Chess Match organises by MIER College of Education | | |  early times report
Jammu, Oct 2: The Sports Unit of MIER College of Education organized an engaging Chess Match for boys and girls, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students at the School of Education (SOE) and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH). The event was inaugurated by Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College of Education (Autonomous) who encouraged students to actively take part in co-curricular activities, emphasizing their vital role in fostering overall development and holistic learning. Dr. Nishta Rana, Head of SOE, and Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of SSSH, along with faculty members, were present to support and motivate the participants throughout the competition. The matches were keenly contested, showcasing the strategic skills and focus of the players. In the boys’ category, Mr. Khushal (B.A. Political Science, Semester V) clinched the first position, while Mr. Mufaid and Mr. Partyush (both from B.A. Political Science, Semester I) secured the second and third positions respectively. In the girls’ category, Ms. Gunjan Kumari (B.Ed. Special Education, Semester I) emerged as the winner, followed by Ms. Saniya (B.Ed. Special Education, Semester I) in second place, and Ms. Purvi Gupta (B.Ed. Special Education, Semester I) in third place. Prof Adit Gupta lauded the efforts of the unit and said that the Chess Match not only encouraged healthy competition but also promoted sportsmanship, camaraderie, and community spirit among students and staff, making it a memorable experience for all. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. C.R. Jangra, Incharge, Games and Sports Unit, under the guidance of Mr. Imran, PTI, Model Academy School.
