Mathura, Oct 2: Mathura Sri Ram Leela Sabha to burn 85 ft effigy of Ravan, this evening, an office bearer of Sri Ram Leela Sabha said.
The effigy of Ravan’s Brother Ahiravan will be 65 ft high, Jayanti Prasad Agrawal, President of Sri Ram Leela Sabha, said. An electronic firecracker show will follow the burning of the Effigy of Ravan, he added.
180-year-old Ramlila is going to deliver an important message this year, to end the use of single-use Plastic “Ravan” this year.
Media coordinator Amit Bhardwaj said. It’s very important to raise awareness among people towards very important issues of our society, connecting religious festivals with these societal issues may benefit every stakeholder, he added.
Mathura MP Hema Malini, while extending her wishes on Dusshera said the day becomes special as birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri falls on the day of Vijay Dashmi. “The day symbolises triumph of good over evil and celebrates ahimsa, truth and humility,” Hema Malini added.
As the UP government is running a program to empower women called Mission Shakti 5, it’s important to end the evil of domestic violence against women and to build a society that ensures safety, equality, and opportunity for women, she said.
The Ram Leela Sabha has made elaborate arrangements for this evening.
