Jammu, Oct 3: In the spirit of service and social responsibility, the NSS Unit "Prabha" of Government Degree College, Ramgarh organized a Donation Drive as part of the nationwide celebration of Daan Utsav—India’s Festival of Giving. The drive was conducted under the able guidance of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, and was efficiently coordinated by NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Brham Dutt. During the event, NSS volunteers actively participated and collected monetary donations from students and staff alike. The funds will be used to purchase essential items and meet the specific needs of underprivileged children and communities through local charitable initiatives. Daan Utsav, formerly known as the Joy of Giving Week, is celebrated across India from October 2nd to October 8th. It encourages individuals from all walks of life to come together in the act of giving—be it time, resources, skills, or kindness. Aligning with this noble initiative, NSS Unit "Prabha" aimed to instill a sense of empathy and community service among the youth. The Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, lauded the efforts of the NSS volunteers and emphasized the importance of cultivating a spirit of generosity and social commitment in today’s youth. NSS PO Prof. Brham Dutt appreciated the volunteers for their enthusiasm and commitment towards making the drive a success. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed pledge by the volunteers to continue working towards societal welfare through similar initiatives.
