early times report

Jammu, Oct 3: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, (SMVDNSH) in collaboration with the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA), organized a free Health Camp at its Gandhinagar OPD today as part of the celebrations of the 35th International Day of Older Persons (IDOP).
The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, President CGPWA, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Member, SMVDS Board, and Mr. K.B. Jandial, General Secretary CGPWA, in the presence of senior members of the Association and Doctors.
More than 50 elderly pensioners and other senior citizens attended the camp and availed free screening facilities at the camp. Services provided included FibroScan for liver health, routine blood investigations, and medical consultations. The consultations were led by two senior specialists from SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital Dr. Vishav Dev Singh, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology, who addressed common gastrointestinal problems in ageing, and Dr. Parul Gohil, Consultant, Anaesthesia & Pain Management, who advised on effective management of chronic pain among the elderly.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuldeep Khoda expressed gratitude to SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital for consistently partnering in initiatives that promote elderly healthcare.
He said that the CGPWA, apart from safeguarding the welfare of pensioners, is committed to spreading awareness on healthy ageing, preventive care, and timely medical consultation.
Dr. Ashok Bhan highlighted the initiatives of the SMVDNSH in reaching out to different sections of the population including senior citizens to provide quality healthcare facilities. Stressing the importance of regular medical check-ups for elders, he said that it is equally laudable that CGPWA is associating with the Narayana Hospital to bring the pensioners under this initiative. He specially mentioned the philanthropic role of SMVD Narayana Hospital in extending specialised care to CGHS and Ayushman beneficiaries.
The camp concluded with a message of active ageing, healthy lifestyles, and periodic screening as essential steps for enhancing the quality of life of senior citizens. Both CGPWA and the Hospital management announced to conduct similar health outreach programmes in future for the benefit of the elderly community in Jammu.
