Jammu, Oct 3: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Jammu & Kashmir Masters Games Association was held today with enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose, bringing together senior sports leaders and officials to strengthen the sporting ecosystem across the Union Territory. The meeting was presided over by Ranjit Singh Chib, Retired SSP and President of the Association. A former captain of the Indian handball team and a legendary sports figure, Chib delivered an inspiring address that set the tone for the discussions. “Sports is not merely about winning medals—it is about discipline, dedication, and determination. I urge the people of Jammu & Kashmir to step forward with passion and commitment. Through sports, we can build stronger minds, healthier bodies, and a united society,” he said. Neete Kour, General Secretary of the Association and recent captain of the Indian women’s handball team at the 2025 World Masters Games in Taipei, also addressed the gathering. She emphasized the need to believe in oneself and nurture local talent. “Success comes when you are focused, fearless, and determined. Our land is full of talent; it only needs to be nurtured with the right guidance,” she said. Key discussions focused on the smooth organization of the upcoming J&K Masters Games, improving grassroots participation, encouraging senior athletes, and creating more opportunities for young sportspeople to compete nationally and internationally. Members reaffirmed their commitment to promoting fitness, discipline, and long-term involvement in sports. A significant decision was taken during the meeting to hold the Second J&K Masters Games from 5th to 9th November in Jammu, further reflecting the Association’s dedication to providing platforms for seasoned athletes to showcase their skills and inspire the younger generation. The meeting was attended by a host of active members including Romesh Sharma, Kuljeet Singh, Sanjay Puri, Prabal Sharma, Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Rajesh Sumbria, Mamata Bajaj, David Sandhu, Rajiv Sharma, Dayal Singh, Anil Abrol, Prithpal Singh, Shivinder Bhan, Amrik Singh, and Raman Kumar. The AGM concluded on a positive and motivational note, with members pledging to work together under the dynamic leadership of President Ranjit Singh Chib and General Secretary Neete Kour to build a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture in Jammu & Kashmir.
