Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 3: Arnia 03 October 2025 -Dangal Committee Changia successfully organized a highly anticipated Dangal (wrestling competition). The event, which serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing rural sporting talent and preserving cultural heritage, attracted an impressive turnout of over 50 seasoned wrestlers from across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.
The stature of the event was elevated by the presence of Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, MLA Bishnah, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His attendance underscored the local administration's support for traditional sports. Upon his arrival, MLA Bhagat was warmly welcomed by the Dangal Committee and enthusiastic villagers.
The day-long competition was a captivating display of strength, technique, and sportsmanship. Wrestlers engaged in intense bouts of kushti (Indian style wrestling), keeping the thousands of spectators on the edge of their seats. The inter-regional participation highlighted the shared sporting culture of North India, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and unity among the neighboring states.
The sheer number of participants, exceeding 50, necessitated multiple rounds of fierce competition, culminating in a grand finale. Though the specific results of the top bouts were not immediately available, the roar of the crowd attested to the high quality and excitement of the matches. The event is a crucial fixture in the local calendar, providing village wrestlers with a professional arena to hone their skills against formidable opponents.
In his address to the large gathering, MLA Dr. Rajeev Bhagat lauded the Dangal Committee Changia for their tireless efforts in organizing the event. He spoke about the significance of such events in channeling the energy of the youth into constructive and healthy activities, emphasizing the cultural value of the sport. "Dangal is a testament to the discipline and traditional values of our region. It is heartening to witness such passion for our heritage," Dr. Bhagat stated.
The MLA was accompanied by key administrative and community figures. Among the prominent attendees ensuring the smooth conduct of the Dangal were Inspector Dilawar Kumar, SHO Arnia, and the Incharge Police Post Trewa. Their presence symbolized the cooperation between the local police and the organizing committee.
