Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: The Swasthya Nari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan, a national initiative Launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on September 17, 2025, aims to promote preventive healthcare, community engagement, and women's empowerment across India. As part of this campaign, AIIMS Jammu successfully conducted its local programme, culminating on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd, 2025. During the programme, 20 health camps and 10 awareness sessions were organized across Samba and neighbouring areas, addressing critical women's health issues such as cervical and breast cancer, HPV vaccination, menstrual hygiene, postpartum care, anemia, and nutrition. The distribution of menstrual hygiene kits challenged social stigmas while empowering adolescent girls with safe practices, and role plays highlighting real-life health challenges emphasized the importance of early intervention, awareness, and community support. The special programme on 1st October was graced by distinguished dignitaries who shared inspiring insights on community health and women's empowerment. Ms. Mandeep Kour, Chief Guest, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, J&K, urged youth and women to actively participate in government initiatives, emphasizing that their leadership today will shape a stronger, more inclusive society tomorrow. Ms. Shagun Parihar, Guest of Honour, Hon'ble MLA Kishtwar, highlighted that empowered woman are the backbone of resilient families and thriving communities, calling for greater support and opportunities for women at every level. Ms. Devyani Rana, Guest of Honour, Vice President, JK BJYM, stressed that strong doctor-patient relationships are pivotal for quality healthcare and trust in the system. She highlighted that when doctors communicate effectively and treat patients with empathy, it not only improves health outcomes but also strengthens community resilience and public trust in the healthcare system, ultimately paving the way for a healthier and more empowered society. Mrs. Madhu Gupta, First Lady of AIIMS Vijaypur, captivated the audience with a poem celebrating women's empowerment, reinforcing the values of leadership, resilience and social responsibility. In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Vijaypur, highlighted that empowering woman is not just a goal-it's the backbone of strong families, resilient communities, and thriving institutions. Drawing from the experience of AIIMS Jammu, he shared that woman now make up a remarkable 70% of the overall workforce, 54% of the faculty, and an impressive 80% of the nursing staff, while men hold 69% of other key positions and women 31% in those roles. Prof. Gupta emphasized that such a balanced and inclusive workforce ensures better patient care, innovative thinking, and leadership at all levels, proving that when women lead and participate fully, the entire healthcare ecosystem flourishes. The Abhiyaan concluded on Gandhi Jayanti, linking its message to the ethos of inclusivity, equity, and collective responsibility. Beyond healthcare access, it served as a platform for dialogue, education, and empowerment, reaffirming AIIMS Vijaypur-and AIIMS Jammu's-commitment to advancing women's health and leadership across India. |
