JKTA envisions empowering Teachers, OPS, TET, ATD, preserving culture, indigenous languages | | | early times report
Ramban, Oct 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA) held a one-day educational conference in Ramban, bringing together teachers from across the Jammu region. UT President of JKTA, Sh.Bhupinder Singh known for his dedication to teachers’ welfare, spoke about the association’s role in advocating for teachers’ rights and professional development. During the conference, JKTA called for the restoration of Old Pension scheme (OPS), Exemption from Teachers Eligibility Test and review on it, Annual Transfer Drive for Jammu and Udhampur, DPC from Teachers to Masters, Mutual transfers of RRETs which has been kept under abeyance and implementing a clear transfer policy for Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers (RRETs) to ensure fair, transparent, and timely transfers. Beyond administrative matters, the conference highlighted JKTA’s five-point agenda, which guides its efforts to improve education and support teachers. The first focus, Character Building, emphasizes honesty, integrity, and ethical values among students and teachers. Environmental Awareness encourages eco-friendly practices and teaches students to care for their surroundings. Management Education helps teachers develop leadership and organizational skills for effective classroom and school management. Teacher Education focuses on continuous professional development and modern, student-centered teaching approaches. Finally, the Promotion of Indigenous Languages seeks to preserve and celebrate local languages such as Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Bhaderwahi, Sarazi, Bhalessi, Padri, Pogali, Khashali, and Kishtwari through workshops, seminars, and curriculum integration. The conference also showcased the human side of teaching. Teachers shared inspiring stories from remote schools, highlighting the challenges and rewards of working with students in diverse communities. Discussions emphasized the importance of inclusive education, support for multilingual classrooms, and preserving cultural heritage through local languages. As the day concluded, there was a strong sense of unity and purpose. JKTA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering teachers, improving educational standards, and preserving the cultural and linguistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the leadership of Bhupinder Singh, the association continues to guide educators toward a future where education is inclusive, progressive, and deeply rooted in the region’s traditions and values. On the occasion a lot of Teachers joined the JKTA and extended their faith and cooperation to its leader Sh. Farooq Ahmed Rounyal was appointed as District President for Ramban. The event was a platform for teachers to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and share their hopes for the future of teaching in Jammu and Kashmir.
