Foundation stone of cremation ground laid | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 6: MLA Bahu Ch. Vikram Randhawa and MLA Jammu South Dr. Narinder Singh Raina today laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the cremation ground at Ranibagh, Satwari, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jammu Cantonment Board. The event was held in the presence of District President Naresh Singh Jasrotia, Bharat Bhushan (member Cantonment Board) Mandal President Pushkar, and local Sarpanches Vijay Kumar, Avtar Singh, and Aaya Singh, along with Pt. Ashok Khajuria and prominent residents of the area. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Ch. Vikram Randhawa said that the project fulfills a long-pending demand of the local residents, which had remained unattended for years. He emphasized that the cremation ground is the last house of every person, and it is our moral duty to maintain such places with dignity, cleanliness, and respect under the Swachhta Abhiyan. He also informed that the renovation work will be carried out by the Jammu Cantonment Board, ensuring quality execution and timely completion of the project. MLA Dr. Narinder Singh Raina, in his address, said that both constituencies are witnessing steady progress under ongoing development initiatives, and every effort will be made to ensure better civic infrastructure and community welfare across the region. Both MLAs also announced ?10 lakh each from their Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the renovation and upgradation of the cremation ground to provide better facilities for the people of the area. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to promoting cleanliness, dignity, and development, ensuring that every public space reflects the true spirit of a clean and progressive Jammu. Local residents and dignitaries expressed gratitude to the MLAs for taking up this long-overdue work and for their dedicated efforts toward the welfare of the people.
