Food Safety, DFCO, Jammu & Samba police seized adulterated Paneer@ 12(approx.) quintal & destroyed under FSSA

JAMMU, Oct 9: Emphasising over the security of the good health of the public, significance of Food Safety, Consumer Safety & Commitment to beat the thwart of Adulteration of Food and the flagship ahead today, on the directions of Commissioner, Food & Drug Administration J&K Madam Smita Sethi (JKAS) the team Enforcement officers of DFCO Samba, on specific information in Coordination with Samba Police today laid down a naka near PP Rajpura intercepted two suspected vehicle Swift Car beating no.PBO6AL -2806 and Tata innova bearing no. HR39B-0400 and the checking Squad recovered @12 quintal (approx.) suspected paneer from both the vehicles, it is to mention that both the vehicles were moving from Punjab to Jammu side via border road, police seized the vehicles and the team of Food Safety Department Samba seized the Suspected Paneer under FSSA and conducted on the spot sampling ,both the consignments were found with address and bills ,the team utilized Mobile Food Testing van whereas the samples found adulterated, emitting foul smell thus unfit for human consumption, and the legal Sampling of same paneer was done which too confirmed to be adulterated, hence, destroyed following proper SOP.
To curb the Adulteration, insanitations, and malpractices, the teams of Food Safety Officers of Drugs and Food Control Orgn.jammu Division are committed to carry out vigorous intensifications of various markets across the length and breadth,from block level to District and then Division level enforced Provisions laid down under the FSS Act 2006 in letter & Spirits.
It is pertinent to mention that these offences led to various ailments the defaulters will be put under punitive action as per FSS Act-2006.
Expressing Concern over the adulteration and insanitation the team expressed that such malpractices are usually repeated in festivities seasons which pose serious health hazards, Risks to the Consumers and public in General. So to snub the traditional practice and to ensure ,safe,pure, quality,eateries, sweets, water,juices , milk , milk products selling the same to the Gen.public, the Deptt of Food Safety DFCO jammu under the Aegis of FSSA in J&K is committed to all take necessary and Corrective measures thereto.It was ensured not to sell exposed illegal milk and milk products like Paneer and the transporters should follow proper SOP viz refrigeration and Safety gadgets while carrying Paneer and the items which are perishable in nature.and the Vendors dealing with manufacturing of sweets desist from using unpermitted colors particularly on the eve of coming Festival Deepawali*For redressal of any type of genuine Complaint reg. Food related issues the Department has given a toll free no.which is 104.
Overall,the Department is Committed to raise the bar in the interest of welfare of Gen. Public.
