MLA Akhnoor Mohan Lal Bhagat felicitates winners at Zonal Level Athletics Meet

AKHNOOR, Oct 11: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Akhnoor, successfully concluded the Inter-School Zonal Level Athletics Meet for Boys and Girls of all age groups at Sports Stadium Palwan under the supervision of Incharge ZPEO Sh. Ashok Kumar.
Hon'ble MLA Akhnoor, Sh. Mohan Lal Bhagat, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and encouraged the young athletes to actively participate in such events to foster discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness. Smt. Sushma Thakur, Principal GHSS Sohal, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.ZPEO Akhnoor extended heartfelt gratitude to Sh. Jugal Kishore, Manager, Sports Stadium Palwan, for providing ground and allied facilities. The event concluded with the distribution of medals among the winners of various track and field events amidst cheers and applause.
Boys Section:
In the Under-14 category, the winners were M.D. Mutabir Khan (APS Akhnoor) in 100m, Bhanu Pratap (APS Akhnoor) in 200m, Pratimesh (APS Akhnoor) in 400m, and Harsh (GHS Garkhal) in 600m. In field events, Ashwit (APS Akhnoor) clinched first place in Shot Put, Arnav Mangotra (GHS Devipur) in Discus Throw, Adarsh Bhagat (GMS Palwan) in Long Jump, and Sarvagya Sharma (APS Akhnoor) secured victory in High Jump.
In the Under-17 category, Vansh (APS Akhnoor) won the 100m race, followed by Ansh Kumar (APS Akhnoor) in 200m and Arjun (APS Akhnoor) in 400m. Sumit Bhasin (GHS Kotli Tanda) topped the 800m, Vivek Sharma (GHS Sunail) claimed the 1500m, and Abhinandan (APS Akhnoor) excelled in the 3000m event. In the field events, Om (APS Akhnoor) clinched first place in Shot Put, Raghav Sharma (GHS Mera Mandrian) in Discus Throw, Mandeep Singh (GHSS Sohal) in Javelin Throw, Pawan Seekal (GHS Kot Garhi) in Long Jump, Vishu Sharma (GHS Kot Garhi) in High Jump, and Tanish Kumar (GHS Devipur) in Triple Jump.
In the Under-19 category, Rohit Manhas (APS Akhnoor) won the 100m race, followed by Vishesh Sharma (GBHSS Akhnoor) in 200m and Sukhdeep Singh (GHSS Sohal) in 400m. Akshat Khajuria (APS Akhnoor) topped the 800m, Rohit Sharma (GHSS Sohal) claimed the 1500m, and Tanish (GHSS Narrari Bala) excelled in the 3000m event. In the field events, Sahil Sharma (GHSS Sohal) clinched first place in Shot Put, Gharu Ram Bral (APS Akhnoor) in Discus Throw, Ansh Shri Pandey (APS Akhnoor) in Javelin Throw, Amit Kumar (GBHSS Akhnoor) in Long Jump, and Sukhdeep Singh (GHSS Sohal) in High Jump.
Girls Section
In the Under-14 category, the winners were Gitika Kumari (GHS Devipur) in 100m, Siya Devi (GHSS Sohal) in 200m, Shivani (GHS Kotli Tanda) in 400m, and Loveleen Kour (APS Akhnoor) in 600m. In field events, Mansi Sharma (GHS Mera Mandrian) clinched first place in Discus Throw, Bansoo Devi (GHS Devipur) in Long Jump, and Loveleen Kour (APS Akhnoor) secured victory in High Jump.
In the Under-17 category, Tanya (APS Akhnoor) won the 100m race, followed by Priya (APS Akhnoor) in 200m and Trishana Devi (GHSS Narrari Bala) in 400m. Manisha Sharma (GHSS Sohal) topped the 800m, Pawna Hans (GHS Devipur) claimed the 1500m, and Sonali Sharma (GGHSS Akhnoor) excelled in the 3000m event. In the field events, Priya Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) clinched first place in Shot Put, Bandana Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) in Discus Throw, Ishita Sharma (GGHSS Akhnoor) in Javelin Throw, Rajni Devi (GHS Devipur) in Long Jump, Priyanka Sharma (GGHSS Akhnoor) in High Jump, and Aahana (APS Akhnoor) in Triple Jump.
In the Under-19 category, Anjali Devi (GHSS Narrari Bala) won the 100m race, followed by Baby Sharma (GHSS Sohal) in 200m and Manshu Verma (GHSS Sohal) in 400m. Aahana (APS Akhnoor) topped the 800m, Preeti Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) claimed the 1500m, and Mani Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) excelled in the 3000m event. In the field events, Sanjana Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) clinched first place in Shot Put, Meenakshi Devi (GGHSS Akhnoor) in Discus Throw, Jasdeep Kour (GGHSS Akhnoor) in Javelin Throw, and Diksha Rani (GGHSS Akhnoor) secured victories in both Long Jump and High Jump.
The meet concluded amid cheers and appreciation for the athletes' outstanding performances, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm.
