GDC Vijaypur organizes lecture on eve of International Day of the Girl Child

VIJAYPUR, Oct 11: To mark the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child, Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur under various Clubs like Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat & Shikshit Bharat organized an insightful lecture on October 10, 2025, aimed at spreading awareness about the rights, challenges, and empowerment of the girl child in today's society.
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Ashu Vashisht, Principal of the\ college, who emphasized the significance of educating and empowering girls to build an inclusive and progressive society. In her address, Dr. Vashisht highlighted the need to eliminate gender-based discrimination and to ensure equal opportunities for girls in all spheres of life. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, HOD Sociology, who spoke on the theme "Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow." The session covered important issues such as gender equality, education for girls, safety, and the importance of building supportive environments both at home and in institutions. Faculty members and students participated enthusiastically in the event, which also included an interactive session where students shared their views and experiences. The program was coordinated with support of Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Choudhary (HOD English), Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Pooja Gupta, Dr. Anoop Singh, Prof Sonia Devi, Prof Dheeraj Singh and Dr. Manmeet Kour. The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11, highlights and addresses the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Naseem Choudhary ((HOD English) acknowledging the efforts of all participants and encouraging continued dialogue and action for the empowerment of the girl child.
