Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 13: Cluster University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Senior Citizens Support Services Club, Chowadi, Jammu, celebrated the rich cultural legacy of the region through a two-day festival titled "Duggar Utsav", held at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. K. S. Chandersekar, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, who presided over the event. Ashok Gupta, General Manager and Divisional Head, JK Bank, Jammu, was the Guest of Honour. Welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. D. S. Manhas, Dean Students' Welfare, highlighted the importance of preserving the Duggar cultural identity in today's rapidly changing times. The ceremony commenced with traditional lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, setting a vibrant tone for the celebration. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sanjeev Jain lauded the university's initiative in promoting Dogri language and culture, emphasizing that cultural preservation fosters inclusivity, pride, and a sense of belonging. Prof. K. S. Chandersekar commended the organizers, noting that "Duggar Utsav embodies the spirit of unity through culture and learning, reflecting the vision of a vibrant academic community." Day one featured a Dogri Elocution Competition, where 35 participants eloquently expressed their thoughts in Dogri before an esteemed panel of judges including Padamshree Mohan Singh, Yashpal Yash, and other renowned cultural personalities. The event was attended by Registrar Ms. Ankur Mahajan (JKAS), deans, principals, faculty members, students, and members of the Senior Citizens Support Services Club, including Dr. Kasturi Lal and Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma, who praised the cultural vibrancy of the programme. The Proceedings of the days program were carried out by Dr. Revika Arora in a coherent way whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sunita Kumari, Assistant Dean, GGM Science College. The celebration is scheduled to continue on October 14, 2025, with essay writing and folk singing competitions, followed by the valedictory ceremony and prize distribution. |
