Blacktopping works should begin immediately: Suresh Sharma | | | Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Oct 13: Today, senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Pandit Suresh Sharma held a review meeting with officials of the PWD Department. The meeting primarily focused on the condition of roads in Block Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura. During the discussion on roads under the City and Town Sector, Suresh Sharma highlighted the deplorable condition of the Khuga-Jeri road and instructed officials to begin blacktopping work on all damaged roads without delay. He said that due to heavy rains, many roads in Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura have deteriorated severely, disrupting traffic, and therefore their maintenance work should be completed at the earliest. He also emphasized that jungle cutting (clearing of vegetation) along the roads has not yet started and must begin immediately. In addition, Sharma directed officials to expedite road construction works under the State Sector and NABARD schemes. He specifically mentioned the Kathar-Balsaro road, which has been closed due to heavy rains, and instructed that it be reopened soon and the remaining work completed quickly to ease public inconvenience. Similarly, he said the Ghosan road, closed for the past month and causing major traffic disruption, should be restored without further delay. Sharma also directed that construction of new classrooms at Higher Secondary Schools in Chowki Choura and Nardibala should begin immediately. He further instructed the officials to carry out repair works at PHC Maira Mandrian and start the construction of new classrooms and boundary wall at Middle School Laguma Ghar at the earliest. |
