Jammu, Oct 14: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a soulful Kavi Darbar and Shabad Kirtan at Village Nowgam, Pahalgam (Anantnag) on 13th October, to mark the Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, under the able guidance of Smt. Harvinder Kaur, JKAS (Secretary, JKAACL). The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of devotees who paid obeisance before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and joined the congregation with deep spiritual devotion. The programme commenced with a melodious Gurbani Shabad Kirtan rendered by renowned Ragis- S. Beant Singh, S. Chamkor Singh, and S. Harpreet Singh- whose divine hymns filled the atmosphere with serenity and reverence. Their Kirtan beautifully invoked the Guru’s eternal message of peace, humility, and universal brotherhood. S. Zorawar Singh, an eminent scholar and speaker, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the timeless teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He emphasized that the sacred scripture is not only the spiritual guide of the Sikh community but also a universal message of human unity and compassion for all mankind. He urged the younger generation to imbibe these divine principles in their daily lives and to remain connected with their linguistic and spiritual heritage. S. Kingi Singh also spoke on the occasion, commending JKAACL for its continued efforts to inspire youth through Punjabi literary and spiritual events. He noted that such programmes strengthen cultural identity and revive the moral essence embedded in the teachings of the Gurus. From the Academy, S. Popinder Singh Paras, Senior Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi, elaborated on the universal philosophy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, describing it as a living embodiment of spiritual wisdom and divine enlightenment. He appreciated the active participation of the local community and reaffirmed JKAACL’s commitment to promoting Punjabi language, literature, and the Sikh spiritual ethos, especially in the far-flung and border regions of the Kashmir Valley, where the Sikh community has been residing for over three centuries. Adding youthful charm to the celebration, talented children from the village- Ramandeep Kour, Sunmeet Kour, Tara Singh, Manjit Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Sohanpreet Singh, Awtar Singh, Manpreet Kour, Jotey Kour, Kajal Kour, and others- recited poems dedicated to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, earning heartfelt applause from the audience for their sincerity and devotion. In his concluding remarks, S. Surinder Singh, President, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Nowgam, presented a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organising this spiritually uplifting event and for their continued commitment to promoting Punjabi culture and Sikh spiritual values. |
