GDC Vijaypur facilitates QR code scanning to promote electoral awareness
10/14/2025 6:43:50 PM

early times report

Jammu, Oct 14: In a forward-looking initiative aimed at enhancing digital engagement and electoral awareness among youth, Government Degree College (GDC), Vijaypur under various Clubs like Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat & Shikshit Bharat, NSS, Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Committee organized a special session to help students scan QR codes to follow the official social media handles of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
This initiative is part of a broader campaign to connect the younger generation with the electoral process, promote voter education, and encourage first-time voters to participate actively in democratic governance.
With guidance from faculty and designated nodal officers, students were introduced to QR code scanning as a quick and efficient method to access the CEO J&K’s platforms on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (X), and YouTube. The activity saw enthusiastic participation, with students scanning codes displayed on posters and digital screens across the campus.
Principal of GDC Vijaypur, Dr. Ashu Vashisht lauded the efforts and emphasized the importance of digital literacy and civic responsibility. “Engaging students through such interactive methods not only spreads awareness but also instills a sense of participation in democratic processes. Following the official handles of the CEO J&K will keep our students informed about key updates, voter registration drives, and election-related initiatives,” she said.
This effort aligns with the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission of India, which aims to bridge the information gap and motivate youth to become active stakeholders in the electoral system.
GDC Vijaypur remains committed to fostering an informed, aware, and responsible student community ready to contribute meaningfully to the nation's democratic fabric.
The event was coordinated with the support Prof Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Education), Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), Dr. Arti Sharma (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Choudhary (HOD English), Dr. Pooja Gupta, (Lecturer, Dept. of Commerce), Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer, Dept. of Education), Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer, Dept. of Hindi) and Prof. Manisha Bharti (Lecturer, Dept. of Computer Applications).
