GGM Science College promotes emotional well-being through Manodarpan Initiative

Jammu, Oct 14: The Manodarpan Psychological Counselling Cell of GGM Science College, Jammu, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell, successfully organized an awareness event on the theme “Fostering Emotional Well-being among Students” on 14th October 2025 in the college conference hall. The program was held under the aegis of the Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta.
Dr. Romesh Kumar, Psychologist/Counselor and HOD at DIET Jammu, was the Resource Person for the event. He delivered an insightful and interactive session on the importance of maintaining emotional balance and mental health in both academic and personal life. He emphasized self-awareness, empathy, and resilience as key elements of emotional well-being.
Dr. Romesh Kumar also actively engaged the students in a series of interactive activities related to emotional and psychological health, including breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, and simple yoga asanas. These activities provided participants with practical tools to enhance focus, reduce stress, and cultivate emotional stability in their daily lives.
Approximately 200 students, along with faculty members, actively participated in the event, making it a vibrant and engaging session. Dr. Vandana Khajuria, In-charge Principal of the college, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of emotional well-being as a cornerstone of healthy growth and holistic development among students.
She appreciated the efforts of the organizing team for conducting such an impactful and need-based program.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Bal Krishan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, and Convener of the Manodarpan Psychological Counselling Cell, who also introduced the guest and gave an overview of the objectives and initiatives of the Manodarpan program. Dr. Yasmeen Mughal from the Department of English also shared her remarks on the theme of the program.
The event was meticulously planned and executed through the collective efforts of the Manodarpan Committee Members, namely: Dr. Ratika Sharma, Dr. Arun Sharma, Dr. Arjun Singh Rathore, Dr. Nisha, Prof. Vishal Sharma, Prof. Sushil Kumar, Prof. Rajiv Kumar and Dr. Jyotdeep Kour Raina.
The formal Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Mateen Hafiz, marking the successful conclusion of the event. The session proved to be highly beneficial for students, reinforcing the importance of emotional well-being in achieving academic success and overall personality development.
