| HRD workshop-cum-seminar at SMVDU | | | Early Times Report Katra May 12- A day long workshop-cum-seminar on HRD scheme was held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University here today. The seminar organized by the Union Ministry of Textiles (Handicrafts) in collaboration with SMVDU was attended by over 70 officials of the Textile Ministry, NGO’s and other institutions. Prof. N.K.Bansal, Vice Chancellor SMVDU was the chief guest at the function. A.K.Handoo, Regional Director (H) highlighted various schemes run by the Ministry of Textiles (H) and appreciated the vision and the efforts put in by Prof. NK Bansal in creating a world class academic institution in this region with in a short span of five years. He said he was happy to see the infrastructure of the University and invited the faculty of the University to associate with this department through projects and consultancy work under various schemes of Ministry of Textiles (H). Prof Bansal in his address at the seminar emphasized on linking academic institutions with skill oriented programs like this for the benefit of society and nation as a whole. He stressed on the need of role of Government of India to support agriculture and handicraft for the upliftment of common people to make the economy stronger. Prof. Bansal appreciated various schemes of MoT(H) for the promotion of Indian Handicraft Industry and assured the officials for the successful implementation of project “Training through established instructions under HRD scheme”, sanctioned by the office of Development Commissioner (H) N Delhi. Dr. MLGarg, Dean, College of Engineering, SMVDU, Prof. R.S. Misra, Dean, College of COPCL, Prof. J.P.Singh, Dean College of Management, Deputy. Directors from Ministry of Textiles (H), National Awardees from related areas were also present.
