Model Academy organises Annual Sports Day

Jammu, Oct 15: Model Academy School organised its Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on the theme “Ignited Minds: Run for Dreams.” The event was dedicated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Missile Man of India, to commemorate his birth anniversary and to inspire students to dream big and pursue excellence with determination.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions, as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Dr. Adit Gupta Director, Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, Mr. Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Mr. J.K. Dhiman, the Principal, Vice Principal, Academic Managers, teachers, and students.
The programme commenced with the Guard of Honour by the Scouts and Guides, followed by an impressive March Past by the NCC cadets, coordinated by Ms. Madhubala, Naval Officer. The Lighting of the Torch and the Declaration of the Sports Meet Open by the Chief Guest marked the formal beginning of the event.
The day unfolded with a series of wing-wise sports events, reflecting the vibrant energy and sportsmanship of the students.
The events began with the Inclusive School, where children showcased their determination and enthusiasm in races such as the Balloon Race, Stars of Tomorrow, and Earth Care Race.
Their active participation filled the arena with cheer and encouragement. The Scouts and Guides assisted the children, ensuring an inclusive and supportive experience for all participants.
Next in line were the events of Humming Buds – the Preschool Wing, where the little ones spread joy through the Planet Race, Missile Race, and Dream Collectors Race. Their colourful outfits and cheerful energy added charm and delight to the morning.
The Primary Wing (Classes 1–5) followed with a variety of competitive and engaging events including the Seeds of Tomorrow Race, Knowledge Torch Race, Scientist Race, Hurdle Race, and Satellite Relay Race. The young athletes demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and a strong will to succeed, truly embodying Dr. Kalam’s vision of “Ignited Minds” striving to achieve their dreams.
A special dance performance on the day’s theme enthralled the audience, symbolizing energy, perseverance, and the pursuit of dreams. The performance was choreographed and coordinated by Ms. Mohini, Dance Instructor.
The programme concluded with the Sports Pledge, reaffirming the values of fair play and perseverance, followed by the Medal Distribution Ceremony, where winners were honoured by the dignitaries. The Vice Head Girl proposed a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, guests, teachers, and students for making the event a grand success.
The entire programme was meticulously coordinated by Ms. Swati Sharma, Convener CCA, along with the Sports Department – Ms. Nisha Sharma, Mr. Imran, and Mr. Sahil, in collaboration with the Student Council. The event was compered by the Sports Captain and Vice-Captain, who kept the proceedings engaging and well-paced.
The Annual Sports Day, dedicated to the visionary Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, truly embodied the spirit of “Ignited Minds: Run for Dreams,” inspiring every child to believe that with effort, passion, and perseverance, dreams can indeed take flight.
