Ramnagar, Oct 15: The NCORD Cell in collaboration with the Debate and Symposium Committee of Government Degree College organized an insightful seminar on the theme “The Impact of Substance Abuse on Indian Youth: Solutions and Strategies.” The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sham Singh Kotwal, Convenor, NCORD Cell, who highlighted the alarming rise of substance abuse among youth and the need for awareness and preventive measures. A total of ten students from various departments actively participated in the seminar. They delivered speeches and presented PowerPoint presentations expressing their perspectives on the causes, consequences, and possible strategies to curb the menace of drug abuse among the youth of India. The participants were adjudged by a panel of esteemed faculty members comprising Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prof. Eisha Gohil, and Prof. Anice Ahmed. The first prize was awarded to Indrakshi Sharma (Semester 3rd), the second prize to Joginder Paul (Semester 1st), and the third prize to Veenakshi (Semester 3rd) for their impressive presentations and analytical insights. In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal appreciated the efforts of the NCORD Cell and the Debate and Symposium Committee for organizing such a thought-provoking event. He emphasized that educational institutions play a pivotal role in nurturing responsible citizens and must continue to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drug abuse. He urged the youth to stay away from such destructive habits and channel their energy toward constructive goals. The program was successfully coordinated by the NCORD Cell and the Debate and Symposium Committee comprising Dr. Sham Singh Kotwal (Convenor, NCORD Cell), Prof. Ritika Mahajan (Convenor, Debate and Symposium Committee), Dr. Sunil Kumar, Prof. Anice Ahmed, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra and Prof. Tanmeet Kour. The technical assistance was provided by Prof. Sanjay Malhotra. The program was graced with the attendance of esteemed faculty members including Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof. Sonia Raj, Prof. Parminder Kumar and Prof. Jatinder Lal. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sunil Kumar who acknowledged the participants, judges, and faculty members for their contribution to the program’s success. |
