SMVDU hosts orientation session for first year students at the University

Jammu, Oct 15: The orientation session for the Board of Professional Activities (BPA), was organized at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The event aimed to acquaint students, particularly those from the first year, with the objectives, structure, and diverse range of events planned under the BPA for the academic session.
The session was led by Dr. Ankush Raina, President of the Board of Professional Activities, who highlighted the vital role of the BPA in nurturing professional development, creativity, and leadership among students.
He emphasized that the board serves as an important platform for enhancing students’ technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills through active participation in various clubs and activities.
During his address, Dr. Raina outlined several initiatives of the Board, including the SAE BAJA Competition, a prestigious event that challenges students to demonstrate engineering design and innovation skills; TEDx SMVDU, which provides a platform for sharing ground breaking ideas and inspiring stories; and the Annual Fest ‘Ekatva’, a celebration of unity, creativity, and teamwork through cultural and technical events.Various faculty advisors of the clubs and student coordinators were also present on the occasion.
They interacted with the students, sharing insights about the functioning of their respective clubs and the opportunities available for hands-on learning and leadership. Their presence added value to the session by encouraging new students to actively engage in professional and co-curricular pursuits.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the student community, reflecting their eagerness to engage in the forthcoming activities and contribute to the University’s vibrant extracurricular ecosystem.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, expressed his support for the BPA's initiatives, emphasizing the University's commitment to promote holistic development and providing students with opportunities to excel in various domains beyond academics.
