Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 15: Tawi Welfare Society held a crucial meeting at Apnavan, Suray Chak, to discuss the pressing issues affecting the Tawi Island Area, particularly in the aftermath of recent floods. The meeting highlighted the devastating impact of the floods on infrastructure, livelihoods, and overall development of the region. Key Issues are damage to roads, schools, irrigation canals, flood protections, bridges, crops, houses, and household items. Departments lack funds to undertake necessary works, despite preparing estimates. There is urgent need for funds to call tenders and commence reconstruction work. Tawi Welfare Society has made an earnest appeal to the Centre to release a special, handsome package for the Union Territory to address the flood-related damages. We urge the authorities to provide sufficient funds to undertake all necessary works, ensuring the region's recovery and development. The people of Tawi Island Area are facing immense hardship due to the recent floods. We request the Centre to consider our plea and release funds at the earliest to restore normalcy and rebuild our infrastructure.
