Visit of Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC, Fire and Fury Corps for NGW logistics hub in Leh | | | Early Times Report LEH, Oct 16: In a major leap toward enhancing high altitude operational readiness, Fire and Fury Corps has inaugurated a dedicated New Generation Vehicle (NGV) Logistics Hub in Leh, with planned satellite hubs in important border areas including Kargil, Tangtse and Nyoma. The facility was inaugurated at Leh by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC, Fire and Fury Corps in the presence of senior military officers and industry partners. This strategic initiative is aimed at overcoming the unique logistics and maintenance challenges of operating modern NGVs in High Altitude Area (HAA) regions that can remain inaccessible for up to six months during winters due to extreme terrain and weather conditions. The new facility consists of a centralised & integrated logistics and equipment sustenance system, thereby improving turnaround time, spare availability and long-time operational sustainability. To anchor this effort, a 'Mother Hub' has been established at Leh. The hub has been strategically located at the intersection of multiple operational axes and strong air connectivity. It will serve as the primary centre for major repairs, diagnostics and large- scale warehousing of critical spares. Representatives of six of the OEMs working with the Army as key defence industry partners viz Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd, Polaris, Bharat Forge Ltd, JSW Gecko Motors Pvt Ltd and JCBL Group will be deployed on site, enabling immediate technical support, faster resolution of the issues and streamlined warranty repairs. This further eliminates the delay often faced in High Altitude Areas by the users due to remoteness and limited access to expert assistance.
