Guru Nanak Dev University Hosts Mini Marathon 2025 to Honor Bravehearts and Promote Health

AMRITSAR, Oct 18: Guru Nanak Dev University , organized a vibrant 5 KM Mini Marathon under the theme *"Run to Honour, Run for Health."* The event, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal, Param Vir Chakra (PVC), was orchestrated by the GNDU NCC unit to pay tribute to the armed forces' bravehearts and encourage fitness among participants.
The marathon kicked off at 7:15 AM with a briefing about the heroic legacy of 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal, followed by a warm welcome to the chief guests and an outline of the event's rules. The chief patron, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, graced the occasion, joined by distinguished guests including Dr. Amandeep Singh (Director, Youth Welfare and HOD, Physical Education), Dr. Balbir Singh (NSS Coordinator), Dr. Amit Chhabra (CET Department), and Dr. (Lt.) Anil Kumar (Coordinator and ANO, NCC GNDU).
Dr. Amandeep Singh delivered an inspiring opening speech, motivating participants to embrace fitness and honor the sacrifices of the armed forces. The marathon saw enthusiastic participation from university students and NCC cadets, all donning chest numbers as they prepared for the flag-off by the esteemed guests.
Safety was a top priority, with NCC cadets managing traffic along the route and medical assistance on standby. Hydration stations and post-run refreshments kept the runners energized, while GNDU NCC cadets uplifted spirits with poems and speeches during the event.
The marathon concluded successfully, with participants running with zeal and enthusiasm. Dr. Balbir Singh congratulated everyone for their dedication, followed by a prize distribution ceremony where five boys and five girls were awarded winner medals for completing the marathon.
