CCI President expresses gratitude to Chief Minister | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 18: The CCI President welcomed and expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s decision to restore the age-old historic tradition of the Darbar Move. He stated that restarting this practice will immensely strengthen the brotherhood and harmony between the two regions (Jammu and Kashmir) and boost the economy by bringing vibrancy to the trade and business sectors of both regions. Arun Gupta requested the Hon’ble Chief Minister to immediately release of SGST refund as withholding of SGST refunds has caused severe cash flow crunch among the industry especially small scale units. He further pointed out that delay in disbursement of turnover incentive has demoralized the industrial community and has also impacted the operational sustainability for many industrial units. He urged that all the pending incentives including the turnover incentive be released at the earliest to save the Industrial sector from going sick. He also raised a serious concern about the dilapidated condition of roads across the Jammu region including fourth Tawi Bridge near Bhagwati Nagar. He highlighted that the flash floods and waterlogging on August 26, 2025, severely damaged the road infrastructure and washed away some portion of fourth Tawi Bridge. Despite a lapse of over 45 days, no steps are visible to repair these damaged roads/fourth Tawi Bridge, causing great inconvenience to the public and hampering the free movement of vehicular traffic. He urged an urgent need for a permanent solution to the road infrastructure crisis. Shri Gupta voiced strong opposition and resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities’ plan to abruptly switch from smart meters to a prepaid system in a short timeframe. He warned that this sudden shift would cause undue mental distress to power consumers, terming it a “direct attack on the fundamental rights of the citizens.” He appealed to the government to immediately stall the move to switch over to the prepaid system to relieve honest consumers of this mental distress. |
