Jammu, Oct 18: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sarwal proudly hosted a commemorative function under the Veer Gatha 5.0 initiative, celebrating the spirit of valour and sacrifice among India’s armed forces. The event was graced by Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu and Colonel Rajinder K. Sharma, whose presence inspired students and staff alike. Col(R)) Rajinder Kumar Sharma born on 10th Sep 1965, is a retired decorated Indian Army Officer of the Grenadiers. He is one of the few recipients of both Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra for his exemplary bravery.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and reverence, followed by the formal felicitation of distinguished guests by Ms. Anshu Thakur, Principal GHSS Sarwal. A poignant poem recited by Mr. Dhruv Salgotra, Class 12 student set the tone for the day, and Mr Kushal, class 11th student sung a melodious patriotic song evoking deep patriotic sentiments. CEO Jammu addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of initiatives like Veer Gatha in instilling national pride and civic responsibility among youth. This was followed by an engaging interaction between Colonel Sharma and the students, where he shared personal anecdotes and encouraged learners to uphold the values of courage and service.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms Anshu Thakur, Principal GHSS Sarwal acknowledging the contributions of all participants and dignitaries. The stage proceedings were seamlessly moderated by Ms. Sunakshi Sharma, whose poised anchoring ensured the programme’s smooth flow.
