| Way cleared for Kargil passengers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 13- Due to the efforts of the divisional administration Kashmir, more than a thousand passengers who were stuck at Sonamarg for the past two days made it to their respective destinations in Ladakh region early this morning. The voters among them also cast their ballots at their respective polling stations in the region today. It may be recalled here that the Srinagar-Kargil road was closed on May 11 due to landslides and avalanches at zero point area of Sonamarg-Gumri section. The Beacon and Himank authorities mobilized their men and machinery to clear the road and their operation continued upto mid night of May 12. The passengers travelling from Srinagar to Kargil and onwards were stopped at Sonamarg on May 11 due to the avalanche. The Sonamarg Development Authority made available facility of lodging and boarding for them. The district administration Ganderbal also made various facilities available to the stranded passengers. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Masaud Samoon was personally monitoring the arrangements made for the held up passengers at Sonamarg and also remained in constant touch with the Beacon and Himank authorities for clearance of the road at the earliest.
