| NSUI protests alleged harassment of female students | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 13- In view of rising incidents of harassment of female students by some teachers in various Educational Institutions of Jammu Province particularly in Jammu City, National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) J&K, today organized an impressive protest in front of main gate of the Jammu University. he NSUI activists assembled at the fountain plaza of Jammu University under the leadership of Abdul Rashid Choudhary, State President NSUI J&K and protested against the Educational authorities for not being able to control the growing incidents of sexual harassment of female students in Educational Institutions by some teachers and staff, who are considered as only next to the parent of students and builder of nation. The NSUI activists came out of the campus carrying posters and banners with warning and massages for the educational authorities and society. They blocked the traffic at the main road for some time and shouted slogans against educational authorities, particularly against such teachers, demanding stern action. It is pertinent to mention here that during last one month, a number of incidents of harassment of female students took place at Educational Institutions in Katra, Samba, Bakshi Nagar, Channi and also in Jammu University which is the highest seat of learning. The increase in number of cases also shows that, the menace is growing very fast with the each passing day. Rashid Choudhary, while addressing lambasted on educational authorities for adopting casual approach towards this heinous crime which is not only polluting the society but also raises question mark on credibility of present day teachers who are the builders of nation. He demanded that student’s grievances cell should be established at every ZEO and CEO offices, so that grievances of student’s particularly female students can be heard and solved. He announced that NSUI is going to launch an awareness campaign in Educational Institution against such crimes and also to aware the students about their rights and duties.
