Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: In a heartwarming celebration of culture, tradition, and compassion, a soulful musical evening titled "Dogri Sangeet Sandhya - Ek Shaam Buzurgon Ke Naam" was organized at "Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu" on the eve of Diwali. The event was a joint initiative of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Nami Dogri Sanshtha (NDS), Jammu, dedicated to honouring the elderly residents and spreading festive joy among them. The function was graced by Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, IFS, Principal Secretary, Culture Department, J&K Government, as Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Harvinder Kaur, JKAS, Secretary, Ms Sonali Arun Gupta, JKAS Addl. Secretary JKAACL, Ms.Shagun, Incharge Mission Shakti, Yati Satya Priya ji, Ex. Mayor, Sunder Nagar (H.P.), Sh. O.P. Sharma Vidyarthi, Capt. L.K. Sharma, Ms, Anupma Sharma, Patron and Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President, NDS Jammu, S/Shri Vijay Gupta, Jt. Secretary, R.C.Vaid and SatPal Sharma, MCMs S.Rajinder Singh and Dr.R.Thappa also graced the event. At the outset, Er. Shri Pankaj Gupta, MCM of The Home for the Aged & Infirm, extended a warm welcome to all the guests, artists, and participants. In his address, he expressed deep appreciation to JKAACL and Nami Dogri Sanshtha for choosing the Vridh Ashram as the venue for this meaningful cultural event, especially at a time when the festival of Diwali symbolizes light, happiness, and care for others. The program featured enthralling Dogri musical performances by eminent local artists, who presented traditional and melodious songs that beautifully reflected the rich cultural heritage of Duggar. The soulful renditions evoked emotions of nostalgia and pride among the elderly residents, who enjoyed the evening with visible enthusiasm and joy. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Brij Mohan Sharma lauded the initiative, stating that such events strengthen the bond between generations and reaffirm the importance of preserving regional art forms while caring for our senior citizens. He also assured that henceforth such like programmes shall be held in this Home and Homes like SOS, Children Homes etc. Ms. Harvinder Kaur and Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila also appreciated the efforts of the Home and the participating organizations for organizing a program that combines cultural promotion with humanitarian values. The evening concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary of the Home followed by interaction with the elderly residents and exchange of Diwali greetings. The entire atmosphere at the Home was filled with warmth, laughter, and music - a true reflection of the message of Diwali: spreading light, love, and happiness. |
