10/22/2025 6:45:29 PM

early times report

Jammu, Oct 22: On the occasion of the 233rd Birth Anniversary of First Dogra Ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji, The Founder of Jammu and Kashmir, Leh Ladakh, and Tibetan Desh, The Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) paid heartfelt tributes to him. Recalling Maharaja Gulab Singh's vision, the YRS stated that his contributions to Jammu and Kashmir are incalculable.
On the occasion of Maharaja Gulab Singh's Birth Anniversary, the entire YRS team, led by President Sanjeev Singh Rinku, paid tributes to Maharaja Gulab Singh's statue located at SMGS Hospital, Shalimar, Jammu. Several senior members of the Sabha, including Former President Vikram Singh Vicky, Rajan Singh Happy, Surinder Singh Gilli, Rajinder Singh, Vishal Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Sumit Singh, Avtar Singh, Daljit Singh, Soni Singh, Gulzar Singh, Roshan Singh, Sahil Singh, and many other members of the Sabha, were present. Together, they offered garlands and flowers to Maharaja Gulab Singh's statue, celebrating Maharaja Gulab Singh's 233rd Birth Anniversary with great respect and honour, paying tribute to Maharaja Sahab.
While addressing the media , Sanjeev Singh said that the history of the Dogra rulers is a golden one and cannot be forgotten. He specifically highlighted that it was due to the great thinking of Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji that Jammu and Kashmir became a great and biggest country at that time. Carrying forward the legacy of the Dogra Rulers, Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, the last Dogra Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, Accession Jammu and Kashmir with India on October 26, 1947. It is because of these Dogra Rulers, Dogra Warrior's, and Dogra heroes that Jammu and Kashmir exists. Today, we proudly call Jammu and Kashmir the crown of India.
Vikram Singh Vicky said that the contributions of Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji, our Dogra Rulers, and the Dogra community are unforgettable. The government should also study this golden history in books so that our present generation can understand the contributions of the Dogra community has made to our country and the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rajan Singh Happy said that, It was because of the Dogra Rulers and warriors that this great kingdom was created. But somehow, on August 5, 2019, this state was demolished and converted into a Union Territory, erasing the history of this great kingdom.
Therefore, the government should fulfill its promise of restoring the state as soon as possible and pay tribute to the Dogra Rulers and also remember the sacrifices of Dogras for Jammu and Kashmir state.
Surinder Singh Gilli said that Maharaja Gulab Singh's Birth Anniversary should be celebrated with great pomp in every District of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Leh Ladakh. However, it is very sad to say that the current Government and its officials did not pay any tribute to the Maharaja, nor did they remember him on his birth anniversary, and this act of behaviour of disrespect against Dogra rulers cannot be acceptable by YRS.
All the members of the Sabha celebrated Maharaja Gulab Singh's Birth Anniversary with great respect and honour, remembering his contributions, and paying tribute to Maharaja Sahab, raising slogans of "Maharaja Gulab Singh ji Amar Rahe," "Dogra Ruler Zindabad," "Jai Jammu Kashmir," and "Yuva Rajput Sabha Zindabad." On this occasion, they wished the people a Happy Diwali and Maharaja Gulab Singh ji's Birth Anniversary, and also paid tribute to him by waving a wreath at the statue. A langer was also organised near the statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji.
