The grand celebration of Diwali Mela 2.0 at Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua began with warmth, devotion, and grandeur. The esteemed dignitaries were graciously welcomed by Mr. Harpreet Singh Anand, Chairman, Jammu Sanskriti Schools; Mrs. Sunakshi Anand, Director Operations, Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu; Principal Mrs. Mili R. Sumbria; along with the Coordinators of JSS Kathua and Ms. Tarmeet Kour, Administrator, Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu. Their gracious presence set the perfect tone for a day devoted to celebration, togetherness, and sustainability.
Radiating festive cheer and cultural vibrance, the campus sparkled with lights, music, and laughter — reflecting the true essence of Diwali. The event commenced with divine fervour as Sh. Rajesh Sharma (JKAS), Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS), Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, as the Guest of Honour. The dignitaries, accompanied by the school leadership, offered a heartfelt prayer to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, seeking blessings for prosperity and peace.
Following the Aarti, the esteemed dignitaries participated in a sapling plantation ceremony, marking a symbolic step towards a “Greener Tomorrow and a Green Diwali.” This thoughtful initiative reflected the school’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness.
The campus soon transformed into a vibrant fairground, featuring colourful stalls offering an array of delectable cuisines, artisanal handicrafts, eco-friendly diyas, designer lamps, and unique handcrafted gifts. Enthusiastic visitors enjoyed games, rides, and interactive activities, filling the atmosphere with fun and festive excitement.
Adding thrill to the evening was the much-awaited Lucky Draw, which brought cheers and smiles all around. The Bumper Prize — an Electric Scooty — was won by Mr. Keshav, a resident of Kathua. Other major prizes included a 40-inch LED TV, Samsung Tab, Washing Machine, and 30 other elite utility items, creating waves of excitement among participants.
The highlight of the evening was the live musical performance by the versatile maestro, Ms. Shumalini, whose enchanting voice and captivating presence lit up the stage. Accompanied by the Radio Top FM Team, her soulful melodies and energetic beats infused the night with rhythm, energy, and festive spirit, leaving the audience spellbound.
As dusk settled, the culmination ceremony witnessed the presence of Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jammu–Samba–Kathua Range, accompanied by Mrs. Radhika Sharma, as the Chief Guests, and Mr. Gopal Mahajan, General Secretary, BJP J&K, accompanied by Mrs. Rita Mahajan, as the Guests of Honour. Their esteemed presence elevated the evening, as they appreciated the school’s commitment to nurturing cultural values, creativity, and environmental awareness.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of gratitude, extending warm Diwali wishes to all. Principal Mrs. Mili R. Sumbria expressed deep appreciation to the dignitaries, parents, students, and staff for their collective support and wished everyone a Diwali filled with happiness, prosperity, and peace.
