| MIER College of Education organizes blood donation camp | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 13- As part of celebrations of World Red Cross Day, a blood donation camp was organized at Government Medical College by N.S.S unit and Extension Activity Unit of MIER College of Education here today. Fifty volunteers along with N.S.S. Program officer Poonam Soni and Komal Sharma, Convener Extension Activity Unit participated in the camp. Dr. Kumkum Sharma, Prof and Head Transfusion Medicines GMC and SMGS Hospital while inaugurating the camp congratulated the MIER College for being the only Educational Institution in Jammu for participating in annual voluntary Blood donation camp for the last 15 years. She also educated the volunteers that every healthy donor can donate blood four times a year i.e. 168 times in one’s lifetime at an average and earn gratitude and best wishes from the suffering humanity. She firmly believes that ‘Rakt Daan is Maha Daan’ (Blood Donation is the supreme donation). After identifying the blood group and checking the level of HB of each participant, only 20 participants were allowed to donate blood. The donors were provided with refreshment after donating blood along with the assurance that at any given time if some relative of the donor requires blood they will be given preference and priority over others. Chairman MIER, Dr. Arun K. Gupta and Director MIER, Dr. Renu Gupta appreciated the efforts of the volunteers and blessed them for this noble cause.
