| DC Ramban inspects ongoing works on NH-44 | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Oct 24: To assess the ground situation, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today conducted an extensive inspection of National Highway-44 (NH-44) from Nashri to Banihal. He reviewed traffic regulation and ongoing construction works along the Nashri-Ramban and Ramban-Banihal sections, with special focus on restoring hassle-free double-lane carriageways. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SSP Traffic NHW; Project Director NHAI and other concerned officers. During the visit, the DC issued on-spot directions to the NHAI to complete Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) patchwork and ensure clearance of unnecessary debris and boulders lying along the hillside from Marog to Kishtwari Pather, which would significantly improve traffic flow and road condition. The DC also conducted a detailed review of the progress of work on Tunnels, Viaducts, and other works, instructing the NHAI and construction agencies to restore double-lane traffic to ensure smooth vehicular movement and passenger safety. The DC emphasized the need for regular debris clearance, slope maintenance and surface repair to minimize inconvenience to commuters. Highlighting public concerns over congestion and frequent blockages, the Deputy Commissioner directed the NHAI to take immediate corrective measures in coordination with Traffic Police and local administration. He also stressed timely maintenance at vulnerable spots affected by rains and landslides. The DC stated that the district administration is closely monitoring the ongoing NH-44 works to ensure safe, smooth and uninterrupted connectivity across the Ramban sector. |
