| JSM concerned over delay in Central University | | | Early Times Report Jammu May 13 - Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) at a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, Prof. Virender Gupta passed various resolutions unanimously and criticized the state government for adopting dilly dally tactics in the matter of establishing the Central University in the Jammu province. The members criticized the state government for working on the hidden agenda of sabotaging the proposal of the Government of India of opening Central University in Jammu province and intriguing to shift the proposed Central University to Kashmir Province. ‘The decision of the Vice Chancellor to open the temporary working office of the sanctioned Central University at Srinagar and to start the Post Graduate Classes in identified disciplines there from this year, unambiguously exposes the conspiracy of the State Government and the Vice Chancellor to establish the Central University in Kashmir Valley and not in Jammu province as has been earlier decided, they said. Members also condemned the clash between Police and the Gujjars who had forcibly occupied 10 hectares of forest land at Karnaila Chak in Phalyan Mandal area and criticized the decision of attachment of officers of Social Forestry department who initiated an FIR against the encroachment of the Government land and the National Conference leaders who are trying to take political mileage. They said JSM (P) feels the need of framing a concrete policy for the settlement of Gujjars and other nomadic communities but any illegal encroachment of Government or Forest land should not be tolerated at any cost. Among others who attended the meeting included Abdul Rouf Ganai, H.B. Khajuria, Capt. Anil Gour, Mrs Swarn Sharma, Dig Vijay Singh, Divender Singh, Chandra Uday Sharma, Balwinder Singh Jamwal.
