| Another Achievement | | | It’s a matter of great pride and another achievement that Jammu Kashmir is among the first regions in the country to implement the National Education Policy across all Higher Educational Institutions in the Union Territory. Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha while speaking at an event applauded the efforts of all the stakeholders for speedy implementation of National Education Policy. He praised the universities and colleges in Jammu and Kashmir for building an ecosystem that will be a catalyst for innovation and ground breaking research. During the past few years J&K government has laid emphasis on building a future-ready academic ecosystem - one that is inclusive, innovative and impactful. The main aim is to empower the students so that they become an integral part of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and emerge as main contributors to the nation’s growth story. The need of the hour for all higher education institutions is to implement innovative programs like “Design Your Own Degree” so that students get an opportunity to study the subjects in which they are interested. The Lieutenant Governor’s observation that J&K’s universities and colleges are building an ecosystem that acts as a catalyst for groundbreaking research speaks volumes about the region’s growing academic ambition. Equally important is the focus on research and innovation. These two factors are necessary for system to become vibrant. In the recent years’ incubation centres, research collaborations, and innovation hubs are gradually taking root, creating a fertile environment for young minds to explore ideas that can have real-world impact. This new culture of inquiry and experimentation is critical for driving technological advancement, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in the Union Territory. The challenges have to be overcome. Resources need to be shared by all the educational institutions to bring about a holistic transformation in the higher education sector in Jammu Kashmir. The NEPs focusses on inclusivity. It also resonates deeply with the government’s efforts to ensure equal access to quality education. By integrating skill development and vocational training into mainstream curricula, the NEP ensures that students from all sections of society are empowered with the competencies needed to thrive in the modern economy. It bridges the gap between classroom learning and employability, preparing youth to become integral contributors to Viksit Bharat—a vision of a developed India that thrives on knowledge, innovation, and equality. |
