Chandigarh, Oct 25: The Department of Public Administration at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women conducted a session on ‘Career in a Central Bank (RBI)’, led by Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, AGM, RBI, Chandigarh. Besides shedding light on the primary activities of RBI, Ms. Kaur spoke about RBI’s pivotal role in India’s economic growth, monetary stability, and regulation of the banking system. Highlighting the diverse career opportunities within the central bank, she guided students on examination strategies, essential skill sets, and preparation methods. Students actively participated in the discussion, raising questions on internships, research opportunities, recruitment processes, and global banking careers. Around 100 students attended the session. In another initiative, the Postgraduate Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE), held a session on ‘Financial Awareness and Consumer Training’. Mr. Rajneesh Sood, Certified Financial Literacy Trainer, NCFE, explained key concepts of personal finance, including investment options, pension planning, and the working of financial markets. He introduced the National Pension System (NPS) as a practical tool for future security and demonstrated the benefits of compounding through simple examples. Mr. Sood also cautioned students against financial frauds, advising vigilance in digital transactions and outlining official reporting mechanisms. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 81 students. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the efforts of both the departments for organising knowledge-oriented sessions that bridge classroom learning with real-world applications, equipping students with practical awareness of career and financial planning.
