| PDP alleges shortage of ration in Banihal area | | | Early Times Report Banihal, May13- Expressing concern over acute shortage of ration in most parts of Banihal tehsil, the People Democratic Party (PDP) today warned to launch stir if this shortage is not removed with in a day or two. Senior leaders of PDP Banihal in a joint statement issued here expressed their grave concern over shortage of ration in Banihal and adjoining localities. Coming down heavily on Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department for its failure to provide ration in Mendhar and adjoining localities they said that ration is not available in government run outlets so both BPL and APL families have been facing hardships adding that most of the poor families are at the verge of starvation due to the non availability of ration. They regretted that problems of the people were brought to the notice of the authorities but no action has been taken so far. PDP zonal president Abdul Ahad Wani said that he has brought the matter to the notice of the CAPD officers who have promised to solve this problem within a day or two. PDP leaders also demanded compensation for those fruit growers whose crop has been damaged due to hail storm in the area. They asked the Horticulture Department to conduct a survey to assess the total loss.
