| BJP demands white paper on encroachment | | | Early Times Report Jammu May 13: BJP today has demanded white-paper regarding the encroachment of the forest and other government land encroached by the land grabbers. In a press statement BJP State spokesperson Ramesh Arora (Adv.) stated Government should make it public how much forest land is in J&K state and the status of area which is with the government. Expressing concerns over the issue he said land mafia is operating in the state and probably it is getting protection, shelter and encouragement from political leaders. Thus it is demanded from the state government to issue a ‘white-paper’ about the steps taken to get the forest land vacated and result thereof, he said. He also mentioned that Supreme Court of India has given a clear direction to all the states, that forest land is to be protected at all cost and its use cannot be diverted. He also alleged that government is not serious about this direction also and forest land is encroached by different persons under political protection, through out the state of J&K in large scale and demanded action against the land mafia to save the eco balance in the state.
