Early Times Report DODA, Oct 25: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Doda Police have dismantled an interstate drug peddling network by arresting five Drug peddlers and recovering approximately 282 grams of a charas-like substance from their possession. Sharing the details, SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) informed that on October 24, 2025, at around 8:30 pm, a police party from police station Bhaderwah had established a special naka at Thanala, Bhaderwah, for vehicle checking. During the checking, a wagon-R vehicle bearing registration No. JK02W-1355 which was coming from the Himachal Pradesh side towards Bhaderwah was intercepted. Besides the driver, four other persons were onboard. On enquiry, they were identified as 1) Nadir Irshad, S/O Sadiq Hussain, R/O Nagar Bhaderwah, 2) Mohd Ashraf, S/o Mohd Iqbal, R/O Kai Mohalla Bhaderwah, 3) Shahid Hussain, S/O Ali Mohd, R/O Qilla Mohalla Bhaderwah, 4) Nasir Karim, S/O Abdul Karim, R/O Dhreja Bhaderwah and 5) Anwar-ul-Hassan, S/O Aynul Hassan, R/O Ghatampur Bhadoi, UP (presently residing at Sarafa Mohalla Bhaderwah. A personal search of all five suspects was conducted, during which police recovered around 282 grams of charas-like substance from their possession. The contraband was being carried for illegal sale among the youth in Bhaderwah town. Accordingly, a case FIR no. 147/2025 under sections 8/20 of NDPS Act has been registered at police station Bhaderwah, and further investigation is underway. This successful operation is part of Doda police's special anti-drug drive aimed at eradicating drug menace from the district.
