Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 26: The Minority Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) convened an important meeting at Jammu, under the chairmanship of Jatin Bhat, to discuss preparations and mobilization for the upcoming by-election in the Budgam Assembly constituency, where voting is scheduled to be held on November 11.
Addressing the meeting, Jatin Bhat appealed to the voters of Budgam to extend their wholehearted support to the NC candidate, Shri Aga Syed Mehmood, emphasizing that the National Conference has always been at the forefront of safeguarding the rights and welfare of all communities, including Kashmiri migrants.
Bhat highlighted that the NC, since its inception, has remained deeply committed to the principles of inclusiveness, secularism, and equitable development. He recalled the pioneering steps taken by the NC government under Dr. Farooq Abdullah, when migrants who were initially living in tents were shifted to one-room tenements to ensure dignified living conditions. Later, under the leadership of then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, these accommodations were upgraded to two-room sets to further improve their standard of living. He also pointed out that the employment package for migrant youth, which provided thousands of job opportunities, was conceptualized and implemented during the Omar Abdullah-led government. In addition, the cash assistance provided to migrant families was enhanced during the same period, reflecting the NC's continued concern for their welfare.
Bhat remarked that it is only under NC-led governments that meaningful steps have been taken to address the problems faced by the displaced community. "If we objectively look at the record, no other government has shown such consistent commitment toward the migrant community as the National Conference has. NC's policies have always been driven by compassion, justice, and a genuine desire to uplift the marginalized," he said.
He urged the voters of Budgam to come out in large numbers on November 11 and vote for the NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood, describing him as a dedicated representative who will carry forward the party's legacy of service, development, and unity.
