| Probe ordered in girl’s killing | | | Early Times Report Jammu , May 13 J&K government today ordered a probe into the killing of a 17-year-old girl during exchange of fire between army and militants in Kishtwar district, 210 kms from here. Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal directed deputy commissioner to conduct a magisterial probe into the incident and submit the report to the government following protests by the people blaming the army for the killing, official sources said. Kotwal also directed the authorities to provide compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased. The girl, identified as Amina, was yesterday killed in cross firing between the militants and army in Kanow Patnazi-Kither forests of the district after 26 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in the area and laid ambush there. Ruling out that she was a militant, Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone, K Ragendra said, "we have nothing on record to prove her as militant".
