Vijaypur, Oct 29: Government Degree College Vijaypur successfully organized a vital Awareness Workshop on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act), to educate faculty, staff, and students on the legal framework for ensuring a safe and respectful work and academic environment. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of the worthy Principal, Dr. Ashu Vashisht, who emphasized the institution's commitment to zero tolerance for sexual harassment and the importance of fostering an inclusive culture. Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht inaugurated the workshop, stressing that the awareness and strict implementation of the POSH Act are crucial for the well-being and empowerment of women in the college community. Dr. Arti Sharma, Nodal Officer, Internal Complaints Committee of POSH Act, 2013 delivered a comprehensive lecture on the various provisions of the POSH Act, 2013. She detailed the definition of sexual harassment at the workplace, the procedure for filing a complaint, the role and constitution of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), and the protective measures available to complainants. The lecture aimed to clarify the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders under the Act.Dr. Nsaeem Choudhary, member of ICC, also delivered her talk on POSH Act, 2013. The event was coordinated with the support of Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Associate Professor, Dept, of Education), Dr. Manoj Heer (Assistant Professor,Dept of Dogri), Dr. Naseem Choudhary (Assistant Professor, Dept of English), Prof. Meetu Sharma (Department of Geography), Dr. PoojaGupta, Lecturer (Dept. of Commerce), Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer, Dept. of Education),Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer, Dept. of Hindi), Dr. Anoop Singh Lecturer (Dept. Of History), Prof. Manisha Bharti (Lecturer, Dept ofComputer Applications). Students also actively participated in the workshop actively. The workshop concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Presiding Officer of the ICC, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, the Nodal Officer, and all participants for making the session highly informative and impactful.
