| Process Continues | | | Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has terminated two more terror friendly government employees by invoking Article 311 of Constitution of India. Since April 2021, the J&K Government has acted tough against the terror friendly employees by terminating 80 of them. All the terminated government employees till date according to the investigations were directly involved in terrorism related activities. The systematic identification and removal of terror-linked employees began in 2021, when the government established a Special Task Force (STF) tasked with identifying employees whose activities pose threats to national security and had links with terrorist outfits. The STF, headed by J&K’s intelligence chief—an officer with decades of experience in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)—coordinated with the Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) to gather evidence before referring cases to the competent committee established in July 2020. Among the most notable dismissals was the July 2021 termination of 11 employees, including two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen’s self-styled “supreme commander” Syed Salahuddin. The dismissed individuals, Syed Ahmad Shakeel and Shahid Yousuf, were found involved in terror funding activities. The Article 311 invoked by the Lieutenant Governor empowers the government to dismiss public servants without a formal inquiry if their continued service is deemed detrimental to the security of the state. While this is an extraordinary provision, its judicious use in Jammu and Kashmir has been essential to cleanse the system of elements who covertly aided militancy while enjoying the privileges of government employment. The impact of this sustained crackdown is already visible. It has sent a powerful deterrent signal across the administration and society at large. Government service, once infiltrated by sympathisers of anti-national networks, is gradually being restored to its rightful purpose—serving the people and the nation. Moreover, this initiative complements the broader security measures that have helped bring down terrorism-related incidents and improve peace in the region. Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a transformative phase of governance and development. The removal of those who compromised national security is an act of cleansing—a necessary step to ensure that public institutions remain free from infiltration and disloyalty. As the Union Territory strides toward peace, progress, and prosperity, it is imperative that governance remains anchored in integrity, accountability, and patriotism. The message is unambiguous: there is no room for those who betray the nation under the guise of public service. |
