Poonch, Oct 30: In a continued drive against the menace of drug trafficking, District Police Poonch achieved a major success today when Police Station Surankote apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a consignment of Chitta (heroin-like substance) from his possession. Acting on specific information, a special naka was laid at Mirza Morh by the police team. During checking and frisking, one person identified as Aejaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Mohra Bachie, was intercepted. On his personal search, 9.5 grams of Chitta was recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 249/2025 under sections 8/20/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the accused. District Police Poonch is committed to maintaining its strong stance against drug smuggling and its distribution network in the region, reaffirming its resolve to make the district drug-free. |
