Early Times Report Jammu, May 14- To make the younger generation conversant with the traditional folk music and dance of Jammu region, the Department of Students Welfare, Jammu University organized a programme on Dogri dances “Jhankar” at Brig. Rajinder Singh auditorium, Jammu University here today The students from the different teaching departments of the university attired beautifully performed various dances depicting the rich Dogra culture, the hard life of the valiant Dogras, patriotism, pangs of separation and folk tales etc. The participants included Isha Taggar, Manisha, Anju, Vandana Sabharwal, Meenakshi Anand, Suresh Kumar, Sujata, Chandan and Diksha. The auditorium was full to its capacity and the mesmerizing performances brought thunderous applause from the audience. Awards of appreciation were presented to all the performances. Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau Dean Students Welfare, speaking on this occasion, said that today the youth is loosing its faith in our rich culture leading to deterioration in our values. He further said that the students of the Campus have talent in abundance and they only need grooming and proper platform to exhibit their talent and the Department of students welfare shall strive hard for providing all possible facilities to the student community. He also congratulated Sachin Bhagat, Secretary, Students cultural Council and him team for sincere efforts in smooth conduct to the function. The programme was conceived and designed by Vijay Atri, Assistant Dean (Cultural Affairs). Among others Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Chairman, Campus Cultural committee, Prof, Shohab Inayat Malik, Associate Dean (SW) Dr. Shailender Singh, Assistant Dean (SW), Dr. Priynaka Katoch, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Assistant Registrar (SW), Vinay Thussoo, PRO, Sachin Bhagat, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Poonam Handa and Hemant Kumar Joint Secretaries were also present. The programme was compeered by Dimple Sharma. The event was managed by Rishi Kumar, Pritam, Kulbhushan Thakur, Balwant and S S Bhalla.
