Jammu, Nov 1: A one-day webinar on ‘Effective Optimization Algorithms in Permanent Magnet MachinesDesign’ was conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. The webinar was organized by the School of Electrical Engineering, SMVDU, aiming to improve knowledge and research practices in the field of electrical engineering. The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Tirumalasetty Chiranjeevi, Associate Professor, SoEE, who outlined the significance of the workshop from both the students and faculty's perspectives. Following this, Dr. Ankireddy Narendra, Assistant Professor, SoEE, introduced the expert Dr. Łukasz KNYPINSKI, Assistant Professor of Poznan University of Technology, Poland. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students, teaching and non-teaching members of SoEE including Prof. Bhola Jha, Dr. Kamal Deep, Dr. Prabhu Omer, Mr. Akash Deep, Mr. Shubham Chip and Dr. Vikram Kumar. Prof. Kumud Ranjan Jha, Dean Faculty of Engineering and HOD SoEE, extended his support for organizing the webinar. Dr. Łukasz KNYPINSKI's presentation explores the application of metaheuristic optimization algorithms in the optimal design of electromagnetic devices. Algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization, Bat Algorithm, Gray Wolf Optimization, and Cuckoo Search have proven effective for solving complex constrained optimization problems, particularly when dealing with finite element method models that account for electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical phenomena. Recent research shows a growing focus on heuristic and nature-inspired algorithms for designing permanent magnet motors, especially brushless DC and permanent magnet synchronous motors. |
