A Workshop on MATLAB organises at SMVD University

Jammu, Nov 3: one-day workshop on “Simulation and Analysis using MATLAB” under the PM USHAScheme was organized by School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) with an aim to enhance the computational and analytical skills of students and research scholars. The proceeding of the workshop commenced with an introduction by the organizing secretary,Dr. Abhishek Singh followed by the welcome address by the Convenor of the workshop, Prof. A. K. Das, Dean, Research and Development. Prof. Das highlighted the growing importance of computational tools in modern research and encouraged the young research scholars to learn such skills to enhance their research capabilities. The Head of the School, Dr Rakesh Kumar, addressed the gathering and stressed the need for continuous learning and skill development to keep pace with advancements in computational technologies. Prof. S. K. Wanchoo, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, encouraged participants to leverage such workshops to strengthen their technical proficiency and research capabilities. He also appreciated the school’s effort in creating such a learning platform that blend theory with computational practice. More than 50 participants including research scholars and faculty members from various Institutions participated in the workshop.
The Technical sessions were conducted by resource persons, Dr Vijay Kumar from University of Jammu and Dr Sashi Bhushan Kotwal from SMVDU. The workshop featured interactive sessions and live demonstrations on MATLAB programming, Simulation and Analysis. Participants actively engaged in problem-solving exercises and received valuable insights from expert trainers.
The workshop provided participants with hands on exposure to MATLAB tools and their applications in engineering and scientific problem-solving. Co-organising secretary Dr. Sandeep Bhougal coordinated the Hands-on session of the workshop. In the valedictory session Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean, Academic affairs interacted with participants and distributed certificates to all attendees. Amongst others Prof. V. K. Bhat, Dr. Kuldeep Raj, Dr. Sandeep Sharma and Dr. Vivek Kumar were present during the proceedings of the event. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU congratulated School of Mathematics for taking such initiative to organize the workshop. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sunny Kumar Sharma, co- organising Secretary of the event, expressing appreciation to resource persons, participants,and university administration for the successful conduct of the workshop.
