| Deputations call on DY CM | | | Early Times report
JAMMU, MAY 14 – Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand met several deputations at summer Secretariat here today. A deputation of Chhamb Displaced Persons Associations 1965 and 1971 Registered Sub-Committee, Kathua, led by Ch. Pratap Singh met the Deputy Chief Minister and apprised him of their demands, which included release of compensation for the left-over property, special recruitment drive for refugee families and ownership rights on evacuee property granted to refugees. Mr. Tara Chand was also apprised of the problems of 14 families of 1971 Chhamb refugees settled in Kathua district. They also called for increasing compensation and ownership rights on residential plots of refugee families. Regarding restoration of ALC status to the 1971 refugees, the deputationists’ informed that the Chhamb sector residents were enjoying ALC status prior to 1971 war and called for restoration of the same. Another deputation of J&K Social Forestry Employees’ Association also called upon the Deputy Chief Minister and apprised him of the difficulties being faced by the field staff in performing their duties.
