Ramnagar, Nov. 4: The SVEEP Cell of Government Degree College Ramnagar organized an Awareness Lecture on the theme “Strengthening Democracy through Informed Voting” under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal. The event aimed to sensitize students about the significance of electoral participation and the role of informed voters in a vibrant democracy. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sunil Kumar, Convenor SVEEP Cell, who highlighted the objectives of the SVEEP initiative and emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the electoral process. The resource person for the session, Dr. Puyesh Kant Sharma, Head, Department of Political Science, delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of voter awareness and participation. He explained how informed voting ensures accountability and transparency in governance, thereby strengthening the democratic fabric of the nation. On the occasion, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, in his address, appreciated the efforts of the SVEEP Cell and motivated students to exercise their right to vote responsibly. He remarked that democracy thrives when citizens make informed choices, and every vote contributes to shaping a better future for the country. He further encouraged the students to act as ambassadors of voter awareness within their communities. A large number of students actively participated in the session and interacted enthusiastically with the speaker. The event was successfully organized by the SVEEP Cell of the college, including Dr. Sunil Kumar (Convenor), Dr. Nazakit Hussain, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, and Prof. Tanmeet Kour. The programme was graced by the presence of faculty members including Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Prof. Jatinder Lal, Prof. Parminder Kumar, Prof. Pankaj Dabgotra, and Mr. Nitish Sharma. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, Head, Department of Commerce and Member, SVEEP Cell.
