Chandigarh, Nov 5: The Department of Add-on Courses (Video Reporting) at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an engaging and insightful lecture-cum-workshop on Short Film Making, designed to nurture creativity, art of storytelling, and technical proficiency among students. The session was conducted by Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Panjab University. He shared his expertise on various facets of visual storytelling, including storyboarding, cinematography, editing, and sound and light design. Dr. Singh guided students through the complete process of film production, from conceptualising an idea to the final cut, highlighting how short films can serve as compelling medium for artistic expression and social impact. Through interactive demonstrations and visual presentations, participants gained hands-on experience in using mobile phones and digital tools to craft impactful short films on contemporary themes. The workshop also encouraged students to think critically about the narratives they create and the ethical dimensions of visual media production. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students exchanged ideas and received personalised feedback from the resource person. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the organisers for such an innovative initiative. She emphasised that creative workshops of this kind play a vital role in fostering originality, confidence, and practical learning among students.
